Christ the King Sixth Forms Receives Prestigious Oscar Romero Award on 45th Anniversary of His Passing

Christ the King Sixth Forms has been honoured with the Oscar Romero Award at St George’s Cathedral, Southwark.

Christ the King Sixth Forms (CTK) is delighted to announce that we have been awarded the Oscar Romero Award at Participator Level in recognition of our commitment to Catholic Social Teaching, social justice, and solidarity. The prestigious award was presented at St George’s Cathedral in a special ceremony attended by students and staff.

Archbishop John Wilson and the Oscar Romero Representative, Mugeni Sumba, praised CTK’s achievement, highlighting the significance of a sixth form being recognised in this way, as the award is usually given to primary and secondary schools. Our students proudly represented CTK, demonstrating their engagement with the values of Oscar Romero and their dedication to social justice.

Canon Michael Branch – Cathedral Dean, speaking at the event, acknowledged the ongoing progress and impact of CTK in the community. This recognition reinforces our mission to develop socially responsible young leaders and strengthen our commitment to Catholic values.

This award comes at a poignant time as the world commemorates the 45th anniversary of Oscar Romero’s passing. In the coming weeks, CTK will be sharing further reflections on his legacy, ensuring that his message continues to inspire our students and wider community.
