The Annual Beginning of the Year Mass is a particular highlight within the Diocese, celebrating our commitment to our pupils and staff who contribute to the Catholic Life and Mission of our Schools and Colleges.
This year saw our largest gathering at St George’s Cathedral with Bishop Paul Hendricks as the presiding celebrant. We would like to acknowledge the contribution of St George’s Cathedral Primary School Choir who were joined by St. Teresa’s R.C. Primary School, Morden, and led by the Director of Music at St George’s Cathedral, Jonathan Schranz. Their contribution provided a beautifully reflective atmosphere to the Mass.
In keeping with the Feast of St Andrew Kim Taegǒn, Paul Chong Hasang, and companions, who were martyred, Bishop Paul reminded us that we are all called to be saints through the smallest sacrificial action, and encouraged us to walk in the footsteps of Christ. Schools and Colleges were invited to bring a Candle which was used in the procession and blessed by the Bishop to be a reminder of Christ’s light in their Schools. On behalf of the Education Commission we would like to thank all those who participated for their contribution in this Mass.
