Culture Day at St Augustine’s Catholic Primary School

18th July 2024 Off By Claire Williams

Diversity Blessing

May the God who created a world of diversity and vibrancy,
Go with us as we embrace life in all its fullness.
May the Son who teaches us to care for stranger and foreigners,
Go with us as we try to be good neighbours in our communities.
May the Spirit who breaks down our barriers and celebrates community,
Go with us as we find the courage to create a place of welcome for all.
Amen

Today was such an amazing day at St Augustine’s! They had a culture day celebrating huge range of cultures, diversities, languages and countries. It was a wonderful sight, seeing children and staff dressed in clothing and costumes that they felt represented their cultural identity as they gathered together for assembly.

There was a wonderful celebration assembly with performances from; Filipino pupils singing a traditional nursery rhyme. Polish pupils singing the National anthem, Irish dancing from three members of staff and a traditional Indian dance.

After school this was followed by the school fair organised by the PTA which helped enhance the day with cultural stalls and delicious Filipino food.
