St Paul’s Academy is a vibrant Catholic school on the outskirts of the Royal Borough of Greenwich. In the most recent Catholic School Inspection for the Catholic Life and mission element of inspection, St Paul’s Academy secured ‘outstanding’ (February 2024). We hold our mission dear and require a lay chaplain who can maintain and develop that ethos. The school is led with vision, enthusiasm and with hope that the many challenges we face can be met effectively.
The Academy has a positive learning environment where pupils are loved. Our motto, ‘You are God’s work of art’, encapsulates the value we place on our students, and expresses our responsibility for their formation. St Paul’s is building an ambitious future for its young people and staff built on the foundation of Christ at the centre of the community.
In the Catholic School’s Inspection we had in February 2024, St Paul’s achieved an ‘Outstanding’ Grade for Catholic life and Mission and rated ‘Good’ for all other areas. St Paul’s was praised for the “deep pastoral care” that is provided and for integrating “fully in the wider community through faith in action and service”. OFSTED 2023 also commented on the ambition being put into the curriculum and the strength of the leadership of the school to raise ambitions and expectations at St Paul’s. If you would like to see a little more of life at St Paul’s Academy, please look at the website and our school film, the link for which is here: https://www.stpaulsacademy.org.uk/school-video/
We can offer you the support of a strong, hard-working team and the opportunity to work with students who aim to meet the high expectations we have of them. The Academy has a unique admissions arrangement, in that it supports Catholic families but also admits 60/210 students from the community each year regardless of religious or denominational background. We are incredibly proud of our external examination results and the inclusion work that happens at the Academy which enables young people to thrive.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone to have a significant positive impact on the lives of our students as the Lay Chaplain. We are seeking to appoint an inspirational individual with outstanding pastoral abilities to lead the spiritual life of the School. The new Chaplain will play a vital role in helping to shape the experience and development of our pupils as well as staff. The successful candidate will be a practising Catholic with excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills. A background in Education may also be beneficial. Bringing faith to life, drawing out the richness of spirituality and prayer with young people and staff and looking after those on the ‘edges’ are key demands for this role.
The successful candidate will work extremely closely with the Principal and Senior Team to ensure that the Academy’s vision, values and strategies are coherently delivered through actions by all staff in school, and that standards of academic progress, behaviour and character are high.
