This year, our student spirituality team were passionate about our community living out the true meaning of Christmas. Our spirituality prefects launched advent through a series of assemblies. They led the school in reflecting on the importance of Advent and how we can follow the example Mary gave at the annunciation by being servant leaders in our school community.
The student spirituality team reminded us to “love not with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (1 John 3: 8). To support us in doing this, they created and shared with the school an advent calendar that encouraged us all to reflect and perform acts of kindness. The spirituality team called us to ‘Share the Care of Christ’ through a food donation drive so that we could help all families to have a joyful Christmas.
The term ended with a service where we continued to reflect on the importance of servant leadership. As part of the service, students presented the various ways that they had served our community for example, supporting each other in academic success, our commitment to tackling climate change, and charitable donations.
