At St Ethelbert’s Catholic Primary School and Nursery, on Armistice Day on Thursday, the Headteacher, Mr Marshall, began the Remembrance Day assembly with the poignant Remembrance Day Prayer for the Fallen. The assembly was to teach the children the importance of remembrance, why we wear poppies at this time of the year and why we should wear our poppies with pride.
The children were invited to attend school wearing their service uniform, to pay tribute to those who had served and fallen in service for our country. We had children wearing their smart uniforms from cubs, brownies, guides, cadets and other groups such as these.
The children in our Reception class also decorated poppies which were then put on our Remembrance display.
The children then observed the two minutes’ silence honouring the fallen.
