Having seen the story in the local news on 12th September of a local food bank having donations stolen, the charity committee at Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Sixth Form College agreed they must do something.

An email was sent to everyone in the wider college community asking for help. Two days later a reply came from a Year 13 student Jason’s mum. She works for a catering company and she and her colleagues wanted to help. This resulted in a van delivering twenty-two boxes of pasta, chickpeas, pasta sauce, rice and other food bank staples for us to deliver.

On dealing with the foodbank we were delighted to find our contact, Genevieve, is a former student of the college.

All the donations were with the foodbank by 18th September, and we really can be proud of our students for taking the lead on this.
