St Bartholomew’s 50th Anniversary

On 22nd April, 2019 St. Bartholomew’s Catholic Primary School, Swanley celebrated 50 years since the school was opened in 1969.

To celebrate this occasion Archbishop Peter led a Mass in Holy Apostles Church on 2nd April concelebrated with Father Paul, Father Michael, Father Hetherton, Father Glanfield and supported by Deacon Joice.  The Headteacher, Mr. Kevin McPartland, thanked all present at the Mass and gave a brief history of the school and its relationship with Kettlewell Nursing Home and St. Bartholomew’s Hospital and its connection with both World War I and World War II.

After the Mass there was a reception in the school hall for invited guests.  Archbishop Peter then spoke to the school’s ‘Leading Lights’ and ‘Chaplains’ followed by a meeting with the children in Year 2 when he spoke about his work as an Archbishop and then the children in Year 6 who were able to ask him questions about his life and work and how he became an Archbishop.

He was entertained by the children in the school hall followed by an address to them on how important it is to be kind to one another.
