To celebrate the beginning of the Jubilee Year, all of St William of York Catholic Primary Schools pupils in Key Stage 2 classes went on a pilgrimage to and around St George’s Cathedral, Southwark.
Years 6 and 4 pupils went on Monday 27th January 2025 and were the first people through the Holy Door for 25 years.
Parents, pupils and staff were welcomed by Cathedral staff and given a guided talk about the Cathedral and its history before children explored the different shrines, using their self-made guide books.
St William of York Catholic Primary School were delighted to celebrate Mass with the rest of the parishioners before a quick lunch in Amigo Hall and the journey back home.
They are so grateful to be able to have such a wonderful, welcoming beacon of hope in our Diocese. They said “Thank you to everyone who helped our children to begin their Journey in Hope”.
