Over 350 jubilant voices filled the air on March 20th, 2024, as five local Catholic primary schools and one Catholic secondary school joined forces for their annual vibrant choral festival in Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church, Erith. This uplifting event brought together hundreds of young singers to celebrate music and community.
Pupils from Our Lady of the Rosary, St Fidelis, St John Fisher, St Joseph’s and St Stephen’s Catholic Primary Schools, alongside their counterparts from St Catherine’s Catholic Secondary School, spent months rehearsing a selection of uplifting choral pieces which showcased powerfully the multitude of musical talents across the schools.
The Choral Festival, which has run annually since 2011, has become a highlight of all the schools’ academic calendar and has inspired the children collectively to strive for ever higher standards of singing and public performance.
“The festival provides a platform for all our young singers to develop their musical skills, build confidence, and experience the joy of performing together. The collaborative spirit and healthy competition fosters a sense of community, camaraderie and excellence amongst the participating schools.” explained the organiser Paul Robinson, “The festival’s success is down to the commitment of all the individual schools and in particular their music leaders.”
